The Liquid Prisoner Kickstarter (It’s here!)

So, just about everyone I know says “You should do crowd-funding.” and talks about how it’s the future of self-publishing. I dunno. I didn’t have any interest and further, didn’t know how it all worked. The Writer JS Earls was always suggesting I do it and and that I wouldn’t understand the crowd-funding community until I got involved and backed some books. JS introduced me to the [legend] writer Mike Baron [Think Badger <I used to super-read this!!!!> and <the well known>Nexus]. He has his own Kickstarter campaign for Bronze Star, which I also support.

I wanted to find something on my own and not settle on a guaranteed bet. So I did what I used to do as a kid and look for some incredible art and and a deep enough story to keep me engaged. I saw the art for Liquid Prisoner on Facebook and was amazed with the style.

My gut told me this was the right book to get behind. It showed up today with a ton of goodies. Now that I see what I got, I wish I had went in at a higher level. Next time. The creator is David Greg Taylor.

Okay, okay, JS Earls was right. This is awesome. You know how- when you leave a Con(vention) and when you get home, you got a bag full of assorted goodies? That’s how this felt. It was packaged with great care- and had some kind of Styrofoam panel to keep the book protected. Lots of stickers and sketches and bonus art. You can tell this is a passion project. So a big thank you to Afternoon Comics for putting this together. Well done David Greg Taylor!

One of my friends is a teacher from California. He said “If you can do it yourself, you’re not being ambitious enough”. I dig that. My own Kickstarter for God of Fury goes live on September 9th. I hope to give my backers the same experience I had with Liquid Prisoner.

kickstarter for the God of Fury graphic novel

What are we doing?

The Dynamic Universe is launching it’s first crowd supported project. The Goal is to create a Graphic Novel and Soundtrack experience. We want a comic reader to be fully immersed in the God of Fury story by reading the adventure while listening to related ambient electronic music.

The God of Fury is mature Sci-fi. A doomed expedition searchers for answers in a mysterious megastructure of alien origin. It’s 56 pages, full color. The companion soundtrack is composed of 17 pieces of music- ranging from somber tones to full sound-designed tracks.

What will you get?

We tried to be flexible and let you order what you want or simply throw some $upport our way – a great thing – if you’ve appreciated our music and art over the years. The graphic engine behind this work was hard-drawn elements, painted effects, all over real 3D models. Throw in some photography and we can basically say almost every art technique available was used to make this book.

The full package option, projected to cost about $100 (USD) of support, will have the graphic novel (hardcover or softcover), the audio CD, a collectible acrylic standee and The Dynamic Universe magazine (80 pages). Everything will be available in both digital and physical formats.

What do you need to know?

We officially launch on September 9th and by the time you read this, a mock up or demo of everything should exist. We are raising enough money to bring this project to life and will gain enough $upport to print and ship to all the backers. The Kickstarter page is in Pre-launch mode so you can bookmark it, subscribe and start the count down with us! We’ll be posting updates on all the social media spots as items come in and more details are available.

Why are we here?

Tiffanie Grey (Artist, Illustrator, Editor) who helped me with the Daz Courses/Tutorials suggested I connect with the Writer JS Earls. We linked up and he agreed to partner up and manage the Kickstarter campaigns. We hope to form a community of readers, supporters, patrons and artists that want to build a meaningful connection over the works and releases from The Dynamic Universe.

Thank you for your support.
