Dynamics Plus Interview and Spotlight on TheXXFactor

October 26, 2014 Leave a comment

The XX Factor is proud to present: The Dynamics Plus

Enjoy the unique flare that this artist brings to the table. We are reminded of a sound reminiscent of Talib Kweli with a similar story telling and use of rhyme scheme to both drive the story along and emphasize the deeper meanings in the story. The artist is clearly a thoughtful individual which shows through in his music. We enjoy the story telling over a smooth beat with slight dissonance to keep it funky and keep us paying attention. Anyone looking for a provoking message or something to entertain the soul and mind will enjoy this artist. We look forward to hearing more in the future.

A Spot for the XX Factor Spotlight

The XX Factor had the opportunity to speak a bit more with the artist…

I understand the scientist slant, but why Dynamics Plus and what’s the story behind the name?

DP: Over the years, there’s been several acronyms, but for the most part I just say Dynamic as in always changing and Plus means there’s always more. Just when you have a complete summary or understanding, there is a new concept or aspect to add on. I rarely use a consistent flow and every line, and even word, has more than one meaning. That’s my style and approach for the most part.

How long have you been doing this? What drove you to get involved in music?

DP: I think I discovered at a pretty young age that I didn’t make a good fan or spectator. I can’t be into something and not want to do it. When I used to hear rap songs, I wanted to create rap songs. It wasn’t enough for me to just listen and think “somebody should…”. So I started making my own songs, with my own style and have been trying to explore, experiment and progress at it ever since.

Out of bounds, rebounding is bound to happen.

“Dash The Cloud”

CHORUS

Maybe I Never should taken you

at your full word, and let my vision get blurred… and

Maybe I never should have taken you

For granted as my girl or the center of my world.. and

Maybe I never should taken you

to a special place without giving you space …and

Maybe I never should have taken you

fresh off a rebound and now we dashing a cloud.

VERSE 1

You in the fourth cubie, the cutie from accounting.

Break it down and start counting

Day One:

I’m looking at you, you got me stunned.

Suddenly I get caught, you occupying my thoughts – on

Day Two:

They tell me that you got a dude.

He rude: late and overdue.

He a doof and tripping over you.

Day Three:

We working on notes, you laughing at jokes.

I’m so engrossed, we stay past close, and get close.

I wanna see what’s up with you – so

I stayed late too, hoping I could rock with you.

You stay true, won’t stray, hey we stay cool.

You can’t choose yet you feel confused and used.

Day Six:

Yeah, we still counting how it starts

how you drifting apart and how I’m playing a part

And the part that you play

when you playing a game.

Chase the ball out of bounds.

Now you dashing a cloud.

Maybe I Never should taken you

at your full word, and let my vision get blurred… and

Maybe I never should have taken you

For granted as my girl or the center of my world.. and

Maybe I never should taken you

to a special place without giving you space …and

Maybe I never should have taken you

fresh off a rebound and now we dashing a cloud.

VERSE 2

I seen you on break, trying hard not to break

I know how you ache, but wait.

How much can you take?

Now aint this bizarre?

How we the last two cars.

You say you broke up this morning

then the rain starts pouring.

Now that day was the ultimate way.

Begin, get in, the flip from friend to girlfriend and win!

We dating, things are more complicated.

Time is slipping and fading, see how she changing.

You scarred and scared unaware of what’s happening here.

Used to be a pair,

now your time is scarce and your hearing impaired.

And now you going there.

She need space. Bitter; how that taste.

In an interview miss said he’s mistreating you.

Misleading you, not quite true, I’m reading you.

I’m cup caking and waiting.

Daily demonstrating every virtue to prove and

move closer to you.

Something’s amiss you miss you misconstrue the truth.

You drew a picture that drew me in. No clue.

This relationship is a re-up of rebound

The rocket ship falls back to the ground, I’m dashing.

Rocket Science album review AreYouAWinslow.com

Dynamics Plus: Rockets viewed and reviewed

Rocket Science is a futuristic hip-hop project with numerous nerd references. The title for the album Rocket Science is fitting … it’s clear that this production is both complex and thoughtful and thus why Dynamics Plus used the term for the album.

Blast Off!

This is going to be 2 part review so that I can focus on the music and the visual elements of the Dynamics Universe separately. As this is a music blog, let’s first talk about the music. Dynamics Universe Volume 9: Rocket Science is a futuristic hip-hop project with numerous nerd references. The title for the album Rocket Science is fitting. At first, you’d think this name seems a bit derogatory as the normal colloquialism associated with the term “rocket science” is to indicate that something is easy, a la “it’s not rocket science.” But it’s clear that this production is both complex and thoughtful and thus why Dynamics Plus used the term for the album. The first few tracks start out a bit too aggressively for my taste. But once “A Perfect Night A Perfect World” kicked in, I was into this album.

Video Dynamics Plus “What Comes Up”

Rocket Science “What Comes Up” video

Love falls down as your compass points in a new direction. Opposites attract- and sometimes the tighter you pull a person in, the harder they push you away. Lenzmen Dynamics Plus creates a video for “What Comes Up” from the album Rocket Science. It’s the Dynamic Universe Volume 09.

Fendi Monae as The girl who falls down

“What Comes Up”

written by Dynamics Plus

Crowd around the center, runs around till I met her.

She a 10’er. Loud, pitch like a tenor.

She has a way to raise my antennae.

So what comes up, sometimes go down

and what comes around- makes it all fall down.

When your North goes South and your East goes West

it’s for the best — it’s only right she gets left.

She got a face like a Saint once she start painting.

And a heart of gold, but she had to go.

Love is over-rated it’s a cage for the dating

She draining my patience, she so high maintenance.

Stars are comets, starts with the comments.

You would swear that I every time I swear
“Could you pick this up?” Soon as I pick her up.

Put the King Under Pressure and now you feel lesser

The time bomb’s ticking for time (wait watch)

Wait a minute, she so dramatic at the finish.

It tears your dream and tears start to stream.

She starts to scream and everything seem to move-

in slow motion –I got a notion that the worst emotion

is the curse of devotion.

And here she go quoting something I said.

So long before, you aint that girl no more.

It don’t apply, so don’t even reply

– lying next to her, it’s all a blur…

Then these thoughts occur

Mark of the Griffin web series review from AreYouAWinslow.com

October 22, 2014 Leave a comment

AreYouAWinslow.com gets wind of the web series

Comics, Characters and action! Mark of the Griffin gets a look!

.. the web series still carries the gravitas of the prose…

Read the graphic novel

Graphic Novel goes live! Mark of the Griffin FIRST

 They say:

I also had the chance to read a comic book from The Dynamic Universe collective, Mark of the Griffin issue #1 written by Drew Spence. This story is presented in a web series as well. After viewing the web series and reading issue #1 of Mark of The Griffin, I have to say that the web series is a far superior presentation of this story. The story overall is very well written and captivating, and the one major plus that the comic has over the web series is that as a reader you can consume the narrative with the aid of your own imagination. Reading the prose, which is basically an internal monologue, has a certain effect that you just can’t get from watching the web series. The major failing of the comic is the art style. The comic is composed of actual shots from the web series that have some sort of Photoshop effect applied to them. As a comic book nerd, I just couldn’t get into this style. I applaud the creators for taking an unorthodox approach and really investing in a multi-media platform for their storytelling, but the comic just doesn’t work for me. By comparison, the web series still carries the gravitas of the prose and the production value is just much, much higher. The story basically revolves around one man, Marcus Griffin, as he undertakes a high-stakes heist and has flashbacks along the way to his very first kills. It’s a captivating story and well told. If you are interested in viewing it yourself, I would recommend the web series. It is truly quite good. Check the links below.
