My You Tube views are frozen

 

New content, not sure how to promote it.

I’m stuck at 301 and I don’t know why

 

A thank you goes to You Tube for providing a free hosting site to display our content. In the beginning it was little tough to sort out the video sizes, rates and thumbnails, but now You Tube is much easier to navigate. They added Ad Sense and Monetizing, so content creators can get paid a small amount from the traffic they drive to You Tube. Of course you’ve seen ads that claim to ‘boost’ your views or services offering thousands of ‘real’ views for cheap. Of course these are all scams and fake looks- created with clever programming and bots. Bots are automated programs and scripts designed to trigger repeated views of content without any human interaction.

 

Rihanna VS Katy Perry

Of course views are important. So when major labels were outed and their fake views purged from You Tube, we realized WHY those services were used so often. When I hit the You Tube home page and saw a Rihanna video with millions of views and right next to it, a Katy Perry video with many more millions, I thought “Wow, although Katy Perry isn’t in the news, but she’s still more popular than Rihanna. Oh and look, Katy is even more looked at than Lady Gaga who has a big world tour going on.” So yeah, it works on us and gives us an impression of how beloved the artist is. It does seem stupid to gauge the quality of a thing by first checking how popular it is. We are driven by ‘seens’ over substance and it’s now more important to be followed than supported by true fans.

 

The Great You Tube crack down and dividing your dividends

To combat rigging views and gaming the system, You Tube monitors views and weeds out bad quality views. This causes your video to freeze at 301 + views while You Tube’s algorithms calculates and recalculates your actual QUALITY views. You can read their policy here:

So what do you do?

Wait. And wait some more. Since this policy has started, there is no longer any way to contact You Tube tech support and the previous emails I have used to contact You Tube are no longer valid. Even Google, which used to be super fast in response time, has a continuous looping hold message that never picks up. After an hour and a half, I have up, even though the pre-recorded message said my call was important and hang on in there.

 

Terms and Critical Conditions

Yeah, you’d better read that You Tube user policy and agreement you clicked on before you uploaded that video of your cat playing with the ball of string. Cheating the system can lead to the removal of your video and/or the deletion of your channel. ANYTHING that plays your video in a hosting program or runs deeply embedded (anything other than the generic SHARE link code) runs the risk of being a violation. And you are wholly responsible. Meaning any site can tell you they are “You Tube Partners” or “totally safe”, “views by real people” or “We work with You Tube”. That is all lies. And they can say whatever they want, because YOU will lose your content and channel. You Tube doesn’t care how you got scammed. And yes, you will see ads on You Tube. Yep, on You Tube, Facebook, Twitter and Reverb Nation. And these sites WILL USE THE YOU TUBE logo. They do not care, but you should. Virool and Promolta are sites that violate You Tube user policy. [I couldn’t get You Tube to put that in writing or their support to put it in a full sentence, but if you read your Terms and Conditions, you will easily see where this goes wrong] Use them at your own risk and apply some common sense when looking to promote your content. If someone or some entity could send 10,000 people to look at a video, they’d be pretty powerful right? That’s like some celebrity force-power right there. Why would that engine be available to you for $9.95? Enough said on that.

 

The Quality View Quandary So how do I get more views?

You Tube has an area dedicated to offering you tips on getting more exposure or making better use of the exposure you do get. It’s worth reading and following. My channel had some issues and I addressed them real quick.

Analyzing Analytics

This area is, along with the new Realtime feature should provide extended information that continually updates to let you know where traffic is coming from and the rate of your views. Of course this information could prove to be invaluable in determining what advertising campaigns are the most effective. It’s a rub, then, that view counts freeze at 301 since you can no longer tell what’s working and how well. If you press the analytics button, located to the bottom right, below your video, you are taken to a screen that displays all the pertinent information – including those so important Quality Views. That’s the real number that You Tube has verified as your view count. Yes, it’s much, much lower than the views posted on the channel or video page. Somewhere between those two numbers are the crunchy crunch, crunch algorithm You Tube is using to keep evil-doers from getting payouts based on fake activity. Unfortunately, it seems thousands, if not millions of channels are caught up in that netting pause.

 

Server aint servin right

Right now, my analytics are broken due to server problems, but even when it worked, it wasn’t working right. When I launched a new video, I sent 40 of my more likely to watch friends a text with the link and info about a new video. About 30 responded back relatively quickly with comments about the video or called briefly to talk about it. My analytics showed no activity and the view count stayed minimal for several days. Even comments alone, proved there was more activity than You Tube counted. I have seen threads across the net about how You Tube is changing their view-meter every day or every few hours. What constitutes a Quality View? They keep changing this to outwit the bots and scammers. Do mobile views count? Can a person watch my video several times? What about tablets? Are embedded videos counted? What percentage of the video being watched counts as a view? All good questions and as long as You Tube must keep changing their counting system, there will probably never be a definitive answer.

 

This video has more than 300 views. C’mon You Tube, let’s work it out.

Personal Plays Plague Problems

Hey, this is my blog isn’t it? So of course it gets personal. I wrote an extremely nice letter (this is business after all) to You Tube detailing my entire video launch campaign, which included screen shots as evidence. It shows my Constant Contact customer lists, which are in the thousands. My twitter blasts and the number of artist-centric accounts that retweet. This, TheDynamicUniverse blog shows a huge spike whenever new content is released, my Facebook ad results that show thousands of views and hundreds of engagements and my radio airplay that show huge spins and also has direct links to my You Tube channel videos for the same songs getting spins. I’ve done less, with lesser videos, and gotten more views. So the final question is, What can we do about this new View Count system and how long do we have to wait before the system is fixed. Until I get real answers to these questions, I am limited to making fresh content and hoping someone sees it. $27.8 billion USD—the UN estimates is the yearly worldwide revenue for sex trafficking. $27.8 billion USD of blood money through the exploitation of millions of people, predominately women and children.

Sex trafficking is not solely a third world problem. It is a whole-wide-world problem. Italy… Nicaragua… India… Nigeria… America…

Six months ago my hometown was shocked when news broke that two women were enslaved and forced into prostitution in our community. They were held captive nine blocks away from my born-and-raised-childhood-home. It is literally happening in our own backyards. And their ages? 21 and 15.

Scrap any misconception you harbor. This is not a victimless crime between two consenting adults. It is a pandemic crime against humanity. Sex trafficking preys on those who feel trapped by circumstances, duress, fear, shame, addiction, hopelessness, and desperation.

It is time we recognize that prostitution is not the oldest “profession”. It is in fact a form of bondage for the majority of “working girls”. And those who have been exploited are worthy of our love, time and compassion.

It isn’t too often that we’re requested to review an instrumental Hip-Hop album, but it is something I enjoy. Getting the chance to listen to something new and different to change the daily routine is always nice.

Prior to listening to this album for review I had never listened to Fallout Shelter, so at first listen I was very critical, however by the end of the second listen I had begun memorizing lines and was swaying to the beats. Every track has a surprise at every corner, each song brings something new to the table rhythmically. There is also very good things to say about the actual production of the album as well. It’s not my favorite genre to listen to, however it was a very well put-together album and I’d suggest it to any of my friends who listen to hip-hop.

The Mark and the Mask with questions to ask

Crazypellas.net:

How did you come up with the concept of Mark of the Griffin?
I fell in love with the look of a jet pilot’s gas mask and wanted something similar. It was going to be just an image used across all my music videos, but the concept just seemed like it needed to be fully developed and so, I fleshed out a character that matched the visual.

What message are you trying to give off with the series?
The overall arc with be about the personal growth of Marcus Griffin and his transition into a fearsome avenger.

How do the episode plots get created?
Choice D) All of the above. Sometimes I scout a location and ask myself what interesting thing could happen there. A story could be attached to someone I met with a skill set or unique attribute. And other times, there’s a statement I want to make and it’s about trying to convey an idea using the MOTG universe.

What software and hardware is used?
Pretty much, I use a Canon camera and Adobe’s suite for graphic and video editing with plug-ins by Red Giant to twist the color at the end.

How close to reality is the series?
So far it’s pretty real. As the story moves along, some of the sets and villains will push the borders. We’re going to slide further into the realm of comic book fantasy.

What’s the difference between the comic book and web series?
The web series is very linear and the comic book jumps around in time. In print, I will be taking advantage of the graphical freedom and showing you stuff that would be impractical to film at this point. The web series is more about you watching Marcus Griffin and the comic book is written straight from the thoughts inside his head.

What other stories have you explored?
I created a two-part rap album called Chaos Legion that explores a futuristic Rome and the vengeful quest of a betrayed general. I rhyme as Dynamics Plus- it’s highly lyrical with some ground breaking storytelling, if I do say so myself. Battlestrux is another rap universe which is similar to Star Trek and Macross. The first album is called Year One: Captain of a Starship.

Where are you hoping Mark of the Griffin will take you? In other words, what’s your final goal from the series?
I’d like to be able to devote more time and resources into the MOTG universe. I have so much more to show you. There are short chapters and segments and also a very long story arc. Being able to tell the full story is a huge goal.

I do everything under my own label Dynamica Music. I stay split between creating and sharing my content.

How long have you been producing music?
I think I made my first record back in 2000, sometime back then. I got tired of paying for studio time and began building my own studio and making my own music.

What influences your music? Do you use samples or compose your music from scratch?
I started off sampling vinyl and still use sample libraries today. Early in, I began to want the source instrument for the sounds I found myself always sampling. That began my interest in researching and amassing production gear.

What software and hardware do you use to make and produce music?
I like synthesizers to create new sounds and keyboards for traditional sounds and familiar instruments. I mostly record everything into my digital workstation as live audio and then edit after.

How do you create across multiple genres of music…Rap, Dance and Electronic?
I’ve been around different styles of music since I was young, so it’s not that hard to wander around between the different vibes. I have a bit of freedom to just make music and then gently push it in a certain direction.

What one tip would you give to other music producers?
As a creative, I think it’s important to love your own work. A lot of artists create what they think others will like. They are being influenced by material that is popular- even though they don’t like it or can’t fully connect with it. It’s following whatever’s selling well or at least out there in a big way. They feel they must do something similar. You can never have true confidence in your art thinking and working that way.

If someone says you stink, they will be right because it’s all about their feelings about you or your art. If you walk in already appreciating your merits, no one can limit your value; they can only offer their opinions. This world is full of No’s; you’d better get your Yes together before sharing or doing business behind your art.

So it’s the end of another year and my guilty thought has been to pray for things to stay the same. Yeah, that’s right. I’m hoping 2013 will be just like 2012. I’m hoping for the health of my friends and family. I’m hoping that my situation doesn’t take any knocks and how successful I am will solely depend on my own actions.

I don’t know if I ever shared this on my blog, but I keep this giant calendar from Staples that I use to track what goes down for the year. At the end, I review the year’s events and check the sheet in the back that has all my yearly goals and resolutions.

I noticed that THE SAME RESOLUTIONS kept appearing year after year. I kept setting these huge goals and never meeting them. It wasn’t that I didn’t have a plan; it was that I had a horrible plan. I was going to accomplish each goal with one big move. Yep. At some point I’d do something spectacular and BAM! New Level Baby.

I actually started knocking out my list when I decided to ‘work’ in a direction instead of planning on arriving at some vague point in the future. I’m sure I will never be satisfied with How I’m doing, What I’m doing or where I’m doing it. But, there is great satisfaction in simply doing all that you can do. Have a safe and productive 2013.

Mark of the Griffin – Graphic Web series first trailer

One Man will change!

And so Drew Spence from Producer’s Edge Magazine created a web series called Mark of the Griffin. It’s about a regular guy who  gets recruited into an organization called the AGENCI and grows to become a fearsome vigilante-like detective. The first trailer shows some stuff from season one episodes. The series features music from Domino grey, Dynamics Plus and Fallout Shelter. What else? It’s also a graphic novel that embellishes the stories and goes deeper into the background of what happened. It’s slated for  fall 2012 and so far 9 episodes have been filmed.
